Gear Up University is a nationwide education program developed for powersports retailers, their apparel employees, industry reps and others who work directly with powersports customers. Gear Up University provides online training and is ideal for powersports retailers who are looking for the most efficient way to train their employees and new hires about riding apparel. Gear Up University is absolutely free, and is available right now.
Gear Up University was developed by the Motorcycle Industry Council’s Rider Safety Subcommittee.
The primary focus of the Rider Safety Subcommittee -- which includes apparel and aftermarket manufacturers and distributors -- is to increase motorcyclists’ awareness about the importance of safety gear and to encourage a “Gear Up Every Ride” motorcycle riding lifestyle.
No cost. Gear Up University Courses are free of charge and available to retailers, their staff, sales reps and others who work directly with powersports customers.
In addition to learning how to best present and sell powersports apparel, students who successfully complete the four core courses may be eligible for incentives and/or spiffs from members of the MIC Rider Safety Subcommittee. Details on these incentives will be coming soon.
Gear Up University is available 24/7 at gearupu.mic.org.
Recognizing that many apparel brands have their own brand-specific training, Gear Up University courses are not focused on brands but emphasize the overall importance of gear features, functions and different styles available for different types of riding. The core content topics:
